PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. The Contractual conditions of the Purchase Order or the General Requirements of Division One of the specification when applicable shall apply to all work specified hereunder.
1.02 WORK INCLUDED
A. This Section covers all labor, materials, and related items necessary to design, furnish, and install a complete walkway cover, canopy, awning, architectural feature or related product as indicated on drawings, as specified hereunder and defined in the sub contract.
1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. Samples of frame and fabric materials and colors will be provided for approval prior to commencement of shop drawings.
B. Awning Works Inc. will furnish complete Fabrication / Erection Drawings and manufacturer's data for approval prior to commencement of fabrication.
C. All Shop Drawings shall be signed and sealed by a Florida registered engineer indicating that aluminum canopy framing meets or exceeds the requirements herein specified.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.01 CANOPIES
The walkway canopy is designed to provide reasonable weather protection for pedestrian traffic when negotiating between the main campus and entries and or exits at the temporary facility. The canopy will be properly dimensioned to provide for water drainage beyond the edge of the walkway path and completely cover the walkway unless specified otherwise.
A. Finish: Standard frames shall be mill finish with optional finishes available such as- powder coating, acrylic enamel, kynar paint or anodizing. The architect/owner shall select the optional finish colors and provide written direction to Awning Works Inc.
B Frame Construction: All frame sections are fabricated with aluminum tubing having a minimum strength of 6063-T5. Gas Metal Arc welding (MIG) and/or Gas Tungsten Arc welding (TIG) shall be the acceptable weld methods. Frames are weld fabricated in pre-engineered modular sections at our facility to the extent determined by Awning Works Inc to properly transport and provide the best quality finished product. Each frame member length and miter cut shall provide a tight clean structural connection.
C. Covering: Unless otherwise specified the covering product will be an 18 ounce per square yard Vinyl Laminated Polyester conforming to Military Specification Mil-C-43006 G, Type 1, Class 1 with a minimum 62” panel width and meets NFPA 710 Flame Resistance. Other suitable fabrics are available based upon expected or extended service life as defined by the owner.
1. Fabrication - Seam joints are to be overlapped high frequency electronically welded wherever possible.
D. Covering Attachment: The covering will be attached by means of galvanized structural stapling, solid braid polyester lacing cord and nickel plated brass marine grommet, mechanically fastened or other approved method as specified on the shop drawing.
E. Canopy shall comply with local wind load requirements

F. Minimum wind load requirements shall be per American Society for Civil Engineer (ASCE) 7-98, up-lift resistance to correspond to a wind velocity of 110 miles one hour sustain pressure, 130 miles per hour three second gust, exposure factor “C”, importance factor 1.15 and Deflection L/175. Fabric panels are not expected to withstand more than 70 miles per hour sustained pressure.
1. Posts will round aluminum pipe with a minimum schedule 40 wall thickness. Post Anchoring shall be accomplished by core drilling or other means that provides a safe installation transition that does not impede pedestrian traffic on the walkway path. An anchoring system that provides a minimum anchor load capacity of 2500 lbs shall be used.
G. Accessories: Furnish and install all rust resistant screws, rivets, connection devices to wall, bolts, ties, closures, and other accessories required for a complete installation and as specified on the shop drawing.
H. Products conforming to all requirements and as manufactured by the following are approved:

PART 3 EXECUTION
3.0 INSTALLATION
A. Erection: either the manufacturer or an erector approved by the manufacturer shall perform Erection in accordance with the approved drawing. Frames shall be plum and level.
B. Cutting: All cutting of fabric, accessories or other parts of the assembly and erection, which is necessary in the field shall be neatly made in straight lines and ground smooth.
C. Touch-Up: At the completion of the work, all scratched, abraded, or other areas where the finish on the frame, beams, columns, or other parts of the assembly are damaged, shall be field touched-up with paint furnished by the manufacturer, which reasonably matches the original finish.
D. Final Cleaning: At the completion of the work performed under this Section, all debris, rubbish, excess material, tools, and equipment shall be removed from the site and the work shall be left in complete, first-class condition. Awning Works Inc's installation representative whenever possible will secure a preliminary satisfaction of completion from the project supervisor to eliminate or minimize the extent of punch list items.
E. Manufacturer's Responsibility: Work shall be furnished and installed by manufacturer or by installer authorized by manufacturer. Manufacturer shall be responsible for installation and shall supervise all aspects of the work.
3.02 REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT
A. The canopy is a modular design which facilitates repair or replacement of specified sections avoiding removal of the entire system.
3.03 WARRANTY
A. All materials and workmanship shall be warranted to the Owner for a period of one year (1) minimum from the completion of the installation unless noted otherwise. This warranty shall extend to normal wear and tear only. Awning Works Inc shall present a written warranty with the shop drawings at the time of submittal.
