The Birchwood & Pinchers Crab Shack – Retractable Roll Curtains

The Birchwood is a boutique hotel planted on Beach Drive in downtown St. Petersburg. A multi-faceted Spanish Mission-style building, The Birchwood is home to The Birch and Vine restaurant. One of the top restaurants in St. Pete, this location offers a variety of seating options both inside and out. Their outdoor dining area was also recently fitted with retractable roll curtains to help enclose the patio area to protect the customers from the elements.

The views of the water are just one of the best features of dining on the patio at The Birchwood. Whether you’re out for a casual lunch, dinner date or just cocktails on the weekend, the location is one of the hottest spots in downtown St. Petersburg. The retractable shades that we installed allow for uninterrupted dining and vistas no matter the weather in the heart of the downtown area.

Pinchers Crab Shack recently expanded their outdoor dining area to include more than 100 seats by adding a series of enclosed retractable screens. Pinchers opened its 10th location in the summer of 2014 in The Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel, Florida. Wiregrass is an open-air “lifestyle center”, so the charm of the plaza is having the outdoor seating option. The owners at Pinchers, though, didn’t want to lose all that seating whenever some inclement weather rolled through.

We were able to custom-design and engineer retractable screens that complemented the architectural style of Wiregrass. These zip-track screens not only provide energy savings by reducing cooling costs, but also allow the restaurant patio to become a sealed environment, keeping out the weather as well as insects, allowing the customers to dine within the building or on the enclosed patio.
