At Awning Works, we are here to help make your business better, both practically and aesthetically. Adding retractable outdoor solar protection is a great way to keep your customers cool and keep the outdoor area of your building viable even during inclement weather. Structural umbrellas add style and effortless ROI for your business. Today, we spotlight two Florida locations that recently added structural umbrellas.

Lego has been a building block (pun very much intended) for both children and adults worldwide. In 2011, a brand new Lego experience opened its doors with The LEGOLAND Florida Resort in Winter Haven. The 150-acre theme park is located 45 minutes from both downtown Tampa and Orlando, providing all of central Florida easy access to the 50 rides, shows, attractions and more.

For LEGOLAND Florida, Awning Works installed four Skyspan Vista structural umbrellas in SD red with a Lagoon Blue canopy color from the Serge Ferrari Soltis 502 collection. These umbrellas are pre-engineered to withstand 75 MPH winds, and with the Florida weather always having the possibility of becoming tempestuous, adding these durable stainless steel umbrellas was the missing piece for LEGOLAND. The outdoor dining area is now adorned with a set of umbrellas that will help visitors beat the heat and the rain during their visit.

structural umbrellas at Ricky T's bar and grilleFor 20 years, Ricky T’s Bar and Grille has been a familiar locale in beautiful Treasure Island, Florida. Located on Gulf Boulevard, this popular beach restaurant is frequented by both tourists and locals and, is known for great food, live entertainment and being an easy stop just a few steps from the beach.

Instead of constantly changing out cheap promotional umbrellas from different distributors, Ricky T’s decided to upgrade its patio area and install a series of structural umbrellas. Many bar umbrellas are made of cheap fabric and mass produced, and with the constant sun exposure, rain and salt air in Florida, they are quick to show wear and develop holes.

Skyspan Vista structural umbrella pivots 360 degreesUsing Serge Ferrari Soltis 502 fabric in a Tuscan orange shade, the umbrellas offer a sunset accent to the outdoor dining area of Ricky T’s. The fabrics used by Awning Works are always high quality, U.V. resistant and flame resistant. This fabric in particular is much thicker than conventional awning fabric and looks great while being durable.

The Skyspan Vista umbrellas utilized by both Legoland and Ricky T’s are a popular selection and stand out with their offset support beams suspending the retractable, pivot-able umbrellas overhead. Ricky T’s also went with a Skyspan Sunset umbrella, which, like most umbrellas, has the support beam at the center.
