Awning Works Donates Fabric to Support Service Dogs

As Thanksgiving approaches, we’d like to spotlight a local company helping those that have given so much. Mary’s Stitchery and Crafts and Awning Works Inc. have had a professional relationship that has always been one of synergy. Mary’s has been a client of Awning Works for years, and we have gladly made donations of extra fabrics to Mary’s business.

Mary’s Stichery and Crafts is more than just a traditional business. She has dedicated her craft of sewing vests for service dogs as a labor of love and a way of thanking and honoring those who have served or are currently serving in the military for the United States. Many of Mary’s family members have spent time in the military and this is her way of giving back.

Mary’s has specialized in using Sunbrella fabrics in her customized service dog vests that she has been making since 2010. She offers high-quality, durable, made-to-order service vests and often makes use of our Sunbrella fabrics to do so, often as a “fabric upgrade” option for her clients. Many of these are made from the outdoor/awning fabric to withstand constant time spent outdoors.

Where most service dog vests are mass-produced, Mary offers plenty of personalized service to make a custom-crafted vest for her clients’ service dogs. Her custom “Autism Puzzle Piece” vest is a fine example of the hand-stitching and mixing of Sunbrella fabrics.

Awning Works provides materials for much more than awnings. Whether the products are used for an individual project such as a Sunbrella boating bedroom makeover, or a commercial opportunity like the tension sunshades project at Eckerd College, the fabric is utilized to meet the needs of our clients.

Awning Works has a history of being charitable in the community. Last year, we donated and installed multiple awnings for the house of a severely wounded Army sergeant as part of the Building Homes for Heroes project in nearby St. Petersburg.

Awning Works has options for clients both large and small. Our website offers a full digital showcase of product lines and our showroom in Clearwater, Florida houses thousands of fabric options for clients to explore. You can also find us on social media, including Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
